Niswonger Online adjunct teachers are licensed Tennessee educators located across the state who bring their subject-area expertise and classroom experience to our online program. They provide students with regular guidance, encouragement, feedback, and support throughout their courses while helping students stay engaged and on track. Adjunct teachers are supported by the Niswonger Online administrative team through training, resources, ongoing communication, and assistance throughout the semester.

Roles and Responsibilities of a Niswonger Online teacher
Gain insight into the expectation for adjunct teachers by reviewing a few of our established teacher standards.
- Hold the proper endorsement and certification that correlates with the online course.
- Provide support, encouragement, and assistance to assigned online learners.
- Provide feedback to students that will enable them to improve and be successful within the course.
- Schedule a minimum of 2 hours of virtual office time per week.
- Answer all email concerns, questions, and inquiries from students within 1 school day.
- Post grades and feedback for all assignments, projects, and papers within 7 school days of submission.
- Make concerted efforts to re-engage students who are not logging in or successfully completing assignments.

Compensation and Pay
Niswonger Online teachers/facilitators are paid as a 1099 contract employee. Facilitators are paid the full stipend and will have to pay full taxes on the amount at the end of the year. Please speak with a tax professional if you have any questions about this.
- Payment for fall, spring, and summer terms is $1,000 per section plus $50 per student. Fall, spring, and summer teachers are paid 2 times per semester: $500 each payment plus $50/student added to the final check.
- Payment for yearlong classes is $1,500 per section plus $50 per student. Yearlong teachers are paid 3 times per year: $500 each payment plus $50/student added to the final check.
- Payment timing:
- Fall Semester: End of September & End of November
- Spring Semester: End of February & End of April
- Summer Semester: End of June & End of July
- Year Long Term: End of September, End of November, End of April
- General Education courses are capped at 25 students.
